The last couple days have been awesome! I finished all my finals, we flew to California, we’ve been exploring California, and today, Drew PROPOSED!!!! We packed a picnic lunch and planned to go to Balboa park, but we went for a drive to Coronado beach first. We walked along in some cute little shops in Coronado. We wanted to walk along the beach a little so we just decided to have our picnic there instead. We sat down and started snacking, and Drew told me he had a little Christmas present to give me. He gave me this really old book. It was of poetry. I opened the cover and inside he had written a poem for me. I read through it and the last stanza was talking about memories, the past and the future and then the last line was, Caitlin…. and then Drew got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I, of course, said YES! He flipped the page and then right inside the book, in a little hole he had cut into the pages, was the ring! 🙂
I’m sooo excited! My ring is absolutely beautiful! I love it! Drew did great (although I will admit that I had a lot of say in the look of the ring). It was handmade! The center stone is a round, light champagne colored diamond (I wanted it to be more unique than the typical engagement ring) that is bezel set and then it has sixteen smaller white diamonds in a halo around it. Ahh I just LOVE it!! I like that it is antique/old fashioned looking and very classy and, in my opinion, timeless. Perfect size, perfect sparkle, and so pretty! Okay, I will stop going on about it now.
It is still so surreal. I mean I have been planning my wedding since I was eight. Now I actually get to really plan it. I am so excited. Although it won’t be for a while, maybe late May 2012. 🙂
