Among the Wildflowers

This collection is the synthesis of my experiences as recorded in my “field guide” sketchbook the summer I lived in the Pennsylvania countryside outside of Philadelphia and the 14 state road trip I took to get there and back. Flower pressings and paintings from botanical gardens, backyard plantings, wildflowers, and farmer’s market and grocery store bouquets leave the infusion of memories from many different cities. A summer full of fun and friendship, L.M. Montgomery said it best in Anne’s House of Dreams: “All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.”
